Better Business Bureau announced findings from its second BBB/Gallup Trust in Business Index survey, noting American consumers say in a seven-month period their trust in businesses has fallen in 13 of 15 industries measured, with an overall composite Index decline in consumer trust of 14 percent. And nearly half (47 percent) of those surveyed say they have only “some, very little or no trust at all” in companies they do business with in everyday life.

Recent studies cite more than eight million Americans as ID theft victims, with nearly $50 billion in annual losses, but the most sophisticated identity thieves are now pursuing even bigger payoffs by targeting businesses. Jet fuel prices have risen 83.6 percent in the last year, according to the International Air Transport Association, and almost every airline has found every opportunity to pass this cost on to consumers through a wide variety of fees or charges for what used to be free features and services.
